Land Rover refers to the hot Range Rover Velar as the SVAD – or the Special Vehicles Autobiography Dynamic Edition. It decided against giving it an SVR nameplate, because that wouldn’t have been in keeping with the Velar’s character, apparently.
That also meant the Velar didn’t get JLR’s 5.0-litre supercharged V8 in full-fat 567bhp form like in the Range Rover Sport SVR and the old F-Type SVR. It did still get said V8 in 542bhp form, though, so don’t feel too sorry for the baby-brother Rangie.
And anyway, if you want even more insane levels of power, German tuner Manhart has just the thing… Welcome to the Velar SV 600.
A quick engine remap has bumped the Velar up to a faintly terrifying 592bhp and 750Nm of torque (that’s 70Nm more than standard) and a new quad-exit sports exhaust system gives it a raucous noise similar to its Special Vehicles siblings.
Then come WHEELS. They’re actually 23-inch units from Luton-based company Hawke. Everything else (so far) has been left as standard, but Manhart insists that the customer can spec upgraded suspension, brakes, decals and interior trim upon request.
We can only imagine how tasteful some of those requests will be…
